Recent Activity

From September 5-8, 2023, the House Democracy Partnership (HDP) facilitated the participation of six Members of Parliament (MPs) from partner legislatures in the 2023 Open Government Partnership Summit in Tallinn, Estonia. The Summit focused on transparent governance and included panel discussions, workshops, and sessions on open government initiatives, e-governance, anti-corruption, and engagement with civil society organizations.

During the Summit, MPs engaged in discussions with open government partners, participated in panels on transparent legislative practices, and connected with experts and parliamentarians with similar interests. Notable sessions included discussions on parliamentary oversight of the national security sector, featuring a former U.S. Member of Congress and a Nobel Peace Prize winner.

The Summit concluded with remarks from USAID Administrator Samantha Power, emphasizing the importance of democratic reform and individual legislators' roles in countering authoritarianism globally. The HDP's efforts to connect MPs through peer-to-peer engagements align with this message, providing additional resources and partnerships to support their work.
